Instructions for Building a Wooden Swing Set
Build a “T” shaped beam with two 2 x 6 x 10’s. Use a 2 x 4 x 8 at each corner for the legs. The legs need to spread out at a 15º. Screw on the leg ties and the “X” braces. Treated pine will do fine for the swing set. Use 3″ composite screws for maximum holding power. They are also easy to use.
Rope is the cheaper and easier than steel chains. It just will not last very long. Use a 20″ 2 x 6 with two 1/2″ holes for the chain. Do not crowd the the swinging lanes with extra swings. This could lead to a collision with another swinger or the legs.
Just remember that every piece in these plans for a wooden swing set has great importance. It will not function properly without every part in its place and attached firmly.
